16550 Explorer II Ivory face

Here's my 16550 Exp II Ivory face. I purchased it in October 1987 from Watches of Switzerland on their 10% down balance over 10 months interest free. I couldn't afford to pay in full then, it was 6 months wages! Worn virtually every day since, probably been around the world 3 or 4 times during that time. Will be sending away for service soon as the bezel has lost the black out of the numbering during this time. Will post some 'after' pictures when I get it back.

That is a gorgeous 16550! Looks to be unpolished (I hope you keep it that way). Also, I assume you will be sending this to Rolex for servicing, but keep in mind that they will likely want to replace the bezel rather than repair/refinishing it, so you might end up with a service bezel.

You should instruct Rolex to service movement only - it's possible the value will be reduced if dial, hands or bezel are replaced.

Beautiful 61550 Explorer II with Cream "Rail" Dial you have there! My non-rail says HI!

Do Not let RSC replace any parts with service parts. All you really want is to have the watch serviced. I had mine rebuilt by a CW21 Watchmaker in my town I trust as I did not want to have any service parts added to my watch. http://www.dstimeservice.com/ I did request a light polish and had the black redone on the bezel too. (see pics)
