Icon10 A Subliminal Message from Mrs Van D?

Look what I found in my Christmas stocking this year.

I need some opinions from you wisened Paneristi; is the empty slot her way of saying I can have one more Panerai?

Secondly, if that was your box what would be your final PAM? For me, it has to be a 1950 Luminor. I love them. I was distraught to find out this week that the 629 was a limited run and they're not available any more (sorry, but I don't what to buy from a grey or Chrono24). The 663 could be a good choice as could one of my favourites the 372. The 533 is a personal favourite, but I'm beginning to give in to Mrs Van D, Cru and my guy at OP Singapore that it's too similar to what I already have.

Thoughts?

Oh, wait, what's that you say? The red tissue paper next to the box in the third photo? Ah, well my friends, that is a masterpiece from John at Dangerous9. Unfortunately, Ruud Van D-head left his Panerai strap tools in Singapore so I can't fit it. I'm not one to bodge it with a pen and a rusty bread knife so you'll have to wait until I'm back in Singapore in a couple of days

don't get a 663, they're plexi....wouldn't want anyone traumatized. lol

what about a 000, or my new favorite a 232?

actually a timex or swatch would work best....

good luck in your quest.

Oh yes, that is the green light!

Does it need to be one with a device protecting the crown? Could a 1940 like the 587 work?

Otherwise, I think a pure and simple 372 would slot in really well there.

Happy New Year!

Congratulations.
Christmas stocking must have been big.
I bet you already thanked Mrs Van D for letting Santa giving you anything.
If it comes to filling a 3rd slot I am pretty sure you will take right decision.

How about a RAD? How about a gold model? I would go with more of a base model just to switch it up alittle. Or a 1940's RAD?

Hey RVD, I have been following you addiction to panerai, and you bring up alot of models that you either have tried on at the AD, or posted pics of new releases, etc....but one common theme I have noticed from you, and this is purely from one trf friend to another, your love and appreciation for the 372. So, from one friend to another, do yourself some justice and get the 372 already!

How about adding a 47mm in there? A 372 w/ sapphire crystal or 422 would fit the collection nicely.

BTW What's the make of that watch box? It looks really nice.

It does, Cru. I have a real thing for the 1950 Luminors with the crown protector. To my simple (and as yet, not fully educated) mind, it is quintessential Panerai.

Happy New Year to you too, mate

It's certainly looking that way, Nick. The only thing nagging at the back of my mind is that Panerai might release something special this year.......

Happy New Year, my friend

The initial advice you gave me a while back when Panerai first turned my head still rings loud and clear in my head, Nick. I will grab a 372 for sure but will most likely wait until August this year when I hit the big five-oh-my-god

If Panerai bring something else out that I start jonesing for, at least Mrs Van D can buy me another watch box next Christmas. She always complains that I am very difficult to buy for, saying 'what do I get for the man who has everything!' When I tell her 'penicillin', that never goes down too well

Happy New Year, mate
