I agree with most of the members; it is the wearer, not the watch. I have seen many Rolex jerks that flash their supposed wealth and many more that appear at ease with themselves.

yellow gold

Personally yellow gold is reserved for either Jimmy Savile or a pharmaceutical salesman of the illegal variety, even car dealers don't wear yellow gold ( I should know I am one!)

Rose gold on the other hand is very South of France when complimented with a chocolate or tobacco leather strap, class act.

I am going onto 2 months of ownership with my 18238. I picked it up for my 50th. I thought this would only be for special occasions, but with the restrained elegance of the 36mm size I find I am wearing it more than I thought. I dont see myself wearing it with a T shirt and shorts but I am comfortable with it in long sleeves and in many more situations than I thought. Plus as stated earlier, I see so many full gold Michael Kors etcc out there I dont think anyone notices.

i bought my first Rolex at 28 a vintage gold Rolex but that wasn't the grail watch. I love a lot of different styles of Rolex but for me, at 38, there was only ever one option. our family has had matching watches since 1984. No watch could take its place. Douche-y? i don't think so. i try to..... Stay humble, smile warmly, have faith. And i do wear it with t-shit and shorts............... and flip flops. LOL.

Neither classy or duochey. Ha. Ha.

Just a lover of Rolex. 45 yrs old, and had always loved the gold 1680, and had to have one.

Just took the plunge and ordered a white gold/blue face Daytona. I used to have a DD40 in WG too. I like the weight and feel of gold, but do not like to draw attention. So, for me, it is a 'private' pleasure.

It depends on the class of people you are with.

Classy people won't even think twice about it.

Class-less people will feel it is "douchey"

My dad gave me a gold Rolex President before I died. I don't usually wear watches with this is the special occasion thing, I think it's extremely tasteful and handsome. Plus it brings back memories

What do you guys think?
I think I completely disagree with everything you think about the perception of an all gold piece.....you clearly care too much about what other people think and that's douchey....

Welcome back to life. Kidding, of course. That would indeed be a very special piece. Would love to see a pic.

Honestly amazed the thread needed more than the first reply above. It's down to the wearer and it's 1000% more "douchey" to judge someone by their watch, Rolex, Swatch or Patek, steel, gold, or plastic, than it is to be the wearer of that watch.

I have seen many guys over 35 who I would consider douchey and at the same time have seen many guys under 35 who I would consider classy. It's all about how you present and carry yourself. If a person does not feel comfortable wearing YG, then it will show. Perhaps it is best to stick to what you are comfortable with and in all honesty, wear what you want and not worry what others think.

Nothing douchey about this reference.

Eric's got it 100% right. Watches are like shoes or hats... if you like them and wear them confidently they'll look good, and if you don't they'll look unauthentic. It's your body language that tells the tale.

If you're uncomfortable with something then you're probably not ready... otherwise, as a fashion forward girlfriend of mine used to say, "just cop a 'tude and do it" (wear it!)

Beautiful Love how the dial is greyed... looks even better than a black dial. Just gorgeous. I'd wear than in half a heartbeat all day everyday!

Gold Rolex is classy.

But many criminals choose Rolex. It is the only watch brand they know and they flash it off in order to compensate for their shortcomings in other life skills.

These people are the real douchebags who give Rolex a bad name.

Do they use a real Rolex - or a fake Rolex? Think about it for a while and Fakewatchbusta...

I used to think ANY gold in a watch was a bit tacky, but these days I'm really starting to like those two-tone Datejusts. Still not a huge fan of all-gold watches though.

Do try wearing it casual with shorts and a T-shirt. I do and it does not feel strange. The 36DD is a classic and works for every occasion imho.
What other people may think is not my problem
