Like the watches, but they aren't a "must have".

Reverso, Submariner and a Speedmaster is pretty much the perfect 3 watch collection IMO.
So yes it's a must have (especially considering the brands a relative bargain in the watch world)

Is it a must have? No but then again I don't think any watch I own is a must have they are all wants. Take them all away tomorrow and life would be fine and go on. As for JLC have owned 3 over the years and they were quite nice but none still with me.

No watch is a must have. But my next watch will be a MUT Moon or Meteorite Master Calendar.

Yes JLC is a must have...

Given their pedigree and history. One of my favorite if not THE FAVORITE watch brands. Did I say I like JLC

This... I mean, I think they are the greatest watch manufacturer, period... But is any watch or manufacture a must have? Of course not...

I personally dont like JLC. Nothing to any of you guys but i bet many would agree its not a must have in a collection.

If you honestly take a step back from the name and prestige there are other companies that do it better.

Im ready for the reaming for saying this but i can handle it.

Im also 27 years old so maybe its just a older mans watch company.

Come on, Connor... Lets be honest. We'd all survive but life wouldn't exactly be 'just fine' without our beloved timepieces. We're not the kind of people who spend a fairly decent amount of money with something that doesn't make any difference in our daily mood

Im 28 and bought my Reverso at 24 after saving up for some time.
So definitely not only an "Older mans" watch company ;)

For the value you get from the manufacturer compared to the amount paid there are very few competitors that I'm aware of?

What exactly do these other companies do better?

I found out yesterday that JLC has a lot of calibres and doesn't really repeat them - which was interesting. They are also one of very few companies (I think Rolex is the other) that does EVERYTHING from the movement to every piece of the casing in-house.

JLC is an awesome brand - ask watchmakers and they will tell you all you need to know.

I own the Reverso Duo and if there is one to own, it has to be a Reverso. It is unique in the market and has real history.

The reverso is an icon. Functional and available in SS so it is achievable to the masses. I would say that makes it an icon. Must have is strong but I would say it as a pure dress watch in a dress/dive/chrono combo is hard to beat.

Maybe I'm sheltered, but i see rolexes all day, everywhere. I've yet to see anyone wearing a reverso in person... except myself. I'm not kidding. It's timeless, austere, easy to read, casual, elegant, formal, informal... a total conundrum.... and despite ppl knowing what it is , i never see it out in public. Another great thing: no convincing reverso replicas yet exist. Can't say that for rolex, mor even patek nautilus. Reversos should start at 10k usd.... if they did, they'd be sought after like patek, ap, rolex, or vacheron.

I have seen a few in the wild but not like Rolex or even PP. no doubt. I would say the same about some others that I have/have had like Nomos and GO and others. If people really knew how good and well done they were they would all own one. I think resale is a huge part for the chronic flippers but not the average Joe. That and you kind of have to be a watch feel like us to appreciate something that is not "mainstream".

And not that most people are thinking about this when they buy a watch but, from what I have heard service on JLC is rather spendy. But I have no personal experience with that just what I have heard from and AD that sells several lux brands. Would love to know for sure as a reverso is on my short list if I could quit impulse buying other watches.
