I am thinking of buying this (gulp) 2 tone 5513...

I would like opinions. This could be a watch that I will wear... If I put in the winning bid. I don't have a big budget for a vintage Rolex. What would you think? What would others think of me for owning this watch? I would not be reselling it. I would clean it up so it would look very nice.

Can I get some opinions pleeease. Thanx! :-)

It's a frankenwatch with aftermarket parts. I'm surprised you would be interested in this if you once worked in a Rolex Service Centre, as you say.

Terry, sorry Sarah, with all the experts you have at your fingertips working at Dallas RSC why wouldn't you run it past them? :-)

This is an assembled watch. Its case is indeed a 5513, which should not have the date, but this watch does. It started out as a stainless steel watch and was changed to two-tone with some factory and some after-market parts, such as the bezel and some links. All of this notwithstanding, it is an excellent watch that has had regular cleaning and maintenance by a Rolex trained watch smith. It has had winding stems and seals replaced as necessary. And please, no requests for a buy-it-now price. If I wanted to do that, I would have. When it is on your wrist no one will know that it is a Frankenwatch. And you don't have to pay five digits to get it! No box, no papers, only the Submariner booklet. And no, I didn't do it, I bought it this way in the '80's unknowingly.

Piece of junk!

If you have the cash and connections to correct a franken this could be a fun and satisfying project.

There's no account to hack. I think "Sarah" knows more than most about assembling Rolexes with dodgy parts and passing them off as real.
