Wow, what a beauty! Just when I thought I wanted the black dial, now I'm not at all sure. Enjoy it!

The blue dial on the SS 15400 really does pop. It is a perfect blue dial in my opinion. It would make a great addition to my collection!

Beautiful! Can I ask why you chose the 15400 over the 15202? Size and motion or just personal preference?

Not sure about the boutique in Vegas, but on this side of the world, the discount at the boutique is minuscule So to me, one would go to the boutique for boutique only model/dial, the 5 year warranty and probably the goodies |

You can't go wrong with the black dial. But you have to see the blue dial in person (and side by side with the black/white) to really appreciate what is the fuss all about. |

I initially thought the 39mm 15202 would be ideal until I put on the 41mm 15400. As I mentioned in my previous (short) review post http://www.rolexforums.com/showpost....0&postcount=86, for me, the 41mm 15400 has a strong wrist presence yet visually balance (this is contrary to some who feel the 'flow' from the 41mm case to the bracelet looks 'off'). If you read up on the 15202 movement, my take is it is quite 'temperamental'. The lack of second hand does not really appeal to me. Also on the 15400, the short hour marker at 3 beside the date somehow strikes a more balanced dial to me, compared to the Jumbo's dial (non existent hour marker at 3). Finally the Jumbo is approximately 4K more than the 15400 So the above are some of the "whys" I went with the 15400, although I truly appreciate the Jumbo's legacy and how it stays true to the 1972 original. I guess it is like owning a piece of AP history. Now, if the 15400 was never made available with the blue dial, I would have ignored all the reasons I gave above and just get the Jumbo, without further doubt |

A week without the 15400
After a week with the 15400, I was off to Amsterdam and London for a week and as I normally travel with my 16710, had to leave the 15400 behind.
I was concerned about leaving the 15400 on the winder but at the same time worried about stuck date wheel or manual winding issues if I were to just store it in the nylon case for a week and chuck it into the safe. I did the latter. It was really tough, suffered withdrawals the first couple of days Came back a week later, wind 30 turns, set the date (crown second position up to one day before actual date) and time (crown third position and set the time and date to current). Looks good so far. Some pics from the trip, it was a wet and cold week, both in Amsterdam and London! Did manage to find time to drop by Wempe, Selfridges, WoS and even the Patek boutique over at New Bond St. Had a good time browsing and really need to save up for a 5711. |

Btw I do not believe a concern would be necessary leaving the 15400 sitting for a few weeks time. I have never had an issue with mine.
Maybe some others can shed more light on this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One good thing of which I noted after the first week, mine seem to be keeping good time so far, from the day one. This come as a slight surprise given some remarks about the need for the 3120 to "settle down", when purchased new. Would love to hear from other owners on the 15400/3120 as well. |

I have found my 15400 to be very accurate. I let it sit face up in an AP travel case. I never have a problem after winding and setting the date function. The only issue I have is magical hairline scratches appearing out of nowhere on the bracelet no matter how delicate and paranoid I am. I wear it as often as I can, but still wish it didn't scratch so easily. Mainly because the finish is outrageously gorgeous on this piece. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a real beauty!!!! Great watch!!! I am considering to buy a 15400 with the black dial but I am not sure about the weight of the watch. Is it heavy for daily use? Does anyone know how much is the weight? Thank you!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
