Pam 441 and other ceramic models. How do they hold up?
The 441 has all of the checks marked for me. I'm leaning towards this one being my next watch as I need/want a gmt. I LOVE black watches BUT have been reluctant to buy one being afraid of what will happen to the black.
I know they are ceramic but I'm curious how they hold up to normal wear and tear. That is my only concern about a black watch. |

I've had my ceramic for about half a year now and no issues at all. Unless you drop the watch onto the ground, it should hold up great to normal wear and tear. My 335 still looks brand new.

Thanks coaster. Like a lot of WIS guys I'm careful about how I treat them. Not as anal as some but I do take care of them. Also because of the business I am in I don't get to wear them daily so that helps with the wear and tear I guess.

I owned the 441 for about a year and it looked mint when I traded it.
I currently own the 438 it too has held up amazingly, looks brand new. And I love it on the Ceramic bracelet! |

They should always look new. I'd just be sure to insure it for damage, not just theft.

I'm mostly a bracelet guy. The 438 is almost grail status for me. How does the bracelet hold up? Isn't it just coated or is it actual pieces of ceramic?

Own 441: bumps and knocks that left marks on my 088 don't leave a trace.
Absolutely love this watch, one thing to note though is how understated it is (which I personally like) Where I always saw everyone's eyes drawn to my 088 with its high polish, I rarely see anyone looking at my 441. |

Should look new forever unless you drop it and are unlucky, or hit an edge against a tough material, in which case it may crack or chip (and that is an expensive repair).
Otherwise, if you see a mark on it, it is residue of whatever you hit it against and should come out with a pencil eraser or tooth paste. A weak point are the female screw threads for the strap pins as these are metal pieces built into the case. If you somehow damage them, I believe it is a case replacement ... so take it easy with the torque when swapping straps. Killer watch! I owned it for a while ....

Whoa. I might rethink the purchase and opt for the 438.

If you know you will want the bracelet it is really the only way to go, if you buy the 441 and add the bracelet later you will pay a premium, its more economical to buy straps for the 438 than it is to add the ceramic bracelet to the 441. Plus you get the blacked out movement as an additional benefit.
I never wear bracelets so I went right for the 441 and saved a few $$ |
