Incoming! Grand Seiko Hi-Beat GMT (SBGJ021)

Very pleased to pick this one up, my first limited edition GS and a very special piece - hard to take pictures of though!

That is truly a beautiful piece. Fantastic pick up. Is this your fourth grand seiko now?

Yes it is. .. although I bought a fifth the day after (big discount, almost half price from an AD, couldn't pass it up), and a sixth is on the way too (another limited edition, also a good price). I really hope I'm done now, the GS bug has bitten hard!

Outstanding pictures. Really awesome. Nice piece also. Congratulations. What did you use for a Camera?

The closeups were done with an iPhone 7 and OlliClip macro lens attachment, the first two were with a Sony RX1R.

Really nice. A couple of questions for you: (1) is the dial more red or brown? (2) what is the material of the rotor? How is he color achieved?

Burgundy, but it changes depending on light angle and intensity.
Rotor is Titanium coated tungsten, and a chemical process linked to varying thickness of the coating, achieves the various colours.

I can't add much more to this really - the dial colour changes hugely depending on the light. In dull light it can appear almost black, in bright sunlight quite red. The "normal" colour is probably more purple than brown, and to be honest I think the dial really needs some strong light to show it at its best - I'm constantly looking for that sunburst glow, but it doesn't often show itself (although it does do more than my similar-but-black-dialed J003).

Umm…no!
But don’t take my word for it, you should run it past Frederico, perhaps – and see what his take is on it.
He might like it and think it’s well made, but wouldn’t buy one, since it’s just a Nomos strap!
