It varies from a walk across the hall to my home office to up to a 900 mi drive. I prefer the short walk.

64 mile round trip from the country to the Philly metro area every day. 3500 mile commute to the Kent countryside several times a year.

I drive 19 miles one way every morning starting at 0500. This way I beat the morning traffic surge to Honolulu, but still takes 20-25 minutes with the early traffic. I get to my work location (military base) and hit the gym each morning for 90 minutes then off to work by 0715. I hit afternoon traffic at 4:30pm and that same 19 miles takes 45 minutes to one hour depending on whether there are accidents or stalled vehicles. Been doing the same afternoon drive for over 10 years now, kind of used to it. :) Aloha, Tim

[QUOTE=threemonkeys;4884573]In keeping with my goal of delivering quality TRF threads which inspire, involve and enlighten, I thought I would tackle the subject of morning commutes.

So how do you get to work? Traffic, commute time, stress, mass transit, etc...

I'm a bus guy myself. Typically I sit in the same area of the bus each day. By being consistent in my seating choice, I'm assured that the same guy with bad breath will sit behind me. And gotta love the people with strong cologne, loud talkers and cell phone conversations. But today is special. There's a faint smell of vomit to add a bit of variety. And did I mention my seat is slightly damp?

Have a great day!

one of the funniest, ironic, sardonic posts I've read on TRF!
Congrats! Wow......
it just describes the modern condition succinctly.......

The home office is quite a trek at the manse...the first half-hour spent getting the coffee made and savored...the next quarter-hour girding for the stress and strain of the trek and then the remaining quarter-hour on the way to the desk.

It takes me about 12 minutes to get to work in this. Most days I wish it was farther.

I work in sales, so I don't have a daily commute. On some days, I visit customers (by car or plane), on others, I work from home (conference calls, email) and I commute to my office probably 1-2 days a week. It is a 30 minute (by car) commute to the office for me.

Drive 50 miles each way so 100+ miles a day... fortunately the time is spent in my commuter car:

So can't complain too much except for the fact it needs regular service/ oil changes every couple of months!
