Have to agree with you completely.
I have a traser for nightwear and it's lume is unsurpassed. These Rolex lume shots are very pretty but I bet they weren't taken more than an hour after being charged by natural light or a torch.
This is probably not the place to say it but Rolex lume is not the strongest characteristic of the marque.

All of my Rolex work OK over night if I charge them up with bright light. My Omega SMP with sword hands and Panerai are by far the best ones I own. They are crazy bright for a very long time.

I have not compared it to a DSSD, which I assume should have the best lume.

100% right. I miss that the most when I think about the 2254.50 I gifted to my brother. I'd rather have the great white GMT instead since I already have an LV in my collection. Plus, the bezel always looked a bit "off" to me.

The Omega lume of the Bond and the Planet Ocean outshine any Rolex but still cannot compare with the old SMP:

But you might also want to check out the Omega PloProf complete with bezel lume:

The DJ II (Rhodium with blue arabics) has both green and blue (chromalight) lume.

I think the Mil GV is the only other Rolex to have both colors.

Here is my Turn-O-Graph. If you charge it up it is pretty bright. I have also noticed that if you don't charge it, it is still bright enough to read if it is dark enough. I noticed on vacation that if there is a lot of ambient light or as you approach dawn, the room can be too bright to see the dimmed lume, but not bright enough to read the watch face.

I also have a Marathon SAR with the tritium tubes and it is very bright like the Ball shown by a previous poster. If you really want bright and reliable lume, you need to go to a watch with the Tritium tubes or a watch with a battery light source like Indiglow.
