Time and Gems

Does anyone have any experience with Time and Gems? They have some interesting watches at decent prices, but I would like to hear of any feedback any of you may have before I make the plunge.

Thanks!

They have been discussed on this forum recently. I did one transaction with them years ago and was pretty well satisfied - but it was a real 'plain janie' watch. Among the complaints I recall reading here were their (or their conglomerate's) use of a lot of non-genuine parts/accessories and some less-than-satisfactory (artistic and gem-laden) dial refinishing work. Personally, I'd stay away, but, otherwise, best to stick to the basics with them and ask specifically about the use of aftermarket parts, bracelets, crystals, and dials.

On the other hand, why not look at what the recommended TRF forum members are offering? They are among the very best sources of watches on the internet and probably have the best prices!

I dealt with Time and Gems. They sent me a very nice 1960's Day-Date after winning an Ebay auction. It was really nice until I got to the buckle, which was not in good condition. So I asked if I could trade the buckle and bracelet and some more cash for a diamond aftermarket bracelet. They agreed so I sent it off and they sent it back with the diamond aftermarket bracelet and it was really awesome. After that about 2 months down the road, my minute hand got loose, dropped off and I couldn't even set the time any more. It was still under it's 1 year warranty so I sent it back, and they fixed it and it worked fine. There was a change though. Because the dial has diamonds a little raised off the surface, the markers were a little bent upwards to go over the diamonds. I was tired of them by now, so I just sucked it up since they fixed the ACTUAL problem and even had made the deal about the diamond bracelet with me. All in all I think it was a GREAT purchase, and I am MORE THAN HAPPY with my watch, sure the markers are a little bent, but I have a very very unique looking Rolex. Red Diamond dial, Diamond and Ruby Bezel, and diamond bracelet. This things gets looks.

Once I had payed for a Rolex, I was told that they had sold the watch I bought. Ok...but then right before they shipped this new watch, I was told that they had sold that one too and would instead be sending me a Rolex that was 4-6 years older than even this one. The Rolex that showed up had very poor quality diamonds (they look like plastic placed on a Rolex), a crown that was extremely worn and would soon need replacing, a tired hack system, and simply was not the watch I though that I was spending so much money on. I was also told that they frequently use pictures of other watches that are similar in look to the one you will receive, so don't expect to get what you see online!

It gets WAY worse! Before the watch had even arrived, I contacted Jeff and told him to recall the watch since I wasn't even sure which watch would be showing up anymore! Of course they did not do this, and once I returned the watch the owner, Michael Davidi, contacted me and falsely accused me of sending them back an exact replica of this watch. Apparently I tracked down an exact replica of a watch that I wasn't even sure of what it would look like? I was then told that I could have a full refund (we know that you didn't actually send us back a fake watch), in return for not leaving this review. I was fine with that, but that was half a month ago and now I can't get in touch with him and am yet to get a refund on the money of mine that they are illegally holding.

So now the company is illegally holding my money, won't return my emails or calls, and won't even get in touch about a lawsuit.

Don't find out what crooks they are for yourself, this genuine and authentic story is literally all you need to know...learn from my mistake of choosing to do business with Time and Gems/Watch Empire!

Search for the threads here. You will read about my close call and the unfortunate experiences of others.
Buy fom a trusted seller here. The little money you think you'll save you will have to spend to make the watch right and/or original.

Hopefully that will happen soon, the banning I mean.

The idea that you would come here, dig up an old thread about a vendor known to be bad, and start your posting contradicting that information rather than start a new thread has all the earmarks of an attempt to whitewash a black spot off the vendor's record.

All you've succeeded in doing is making it look like the lousy vendor is here on the sly posting lies.

Two things to take away from this:

1) Nobody in their right mind would read this thread and buy from Time and Gems;

2) Nobody in their right mind would read this thread and believe anything you post.

Really glad I read this thread...registered just to say thanks everyone!

Also, have some of you guys considered filing a lawsuit? I'm a corporate attorney, but if you're in LA - LA County small claims court ($10K or less) is incredibly easy to use. The complaint is literally a 2 page form. And if you really wanted to shut them down, there are also a variety of other civil actions available under federal and CA state anti-fraud / false advertising / deceptive trade practice laws.

I'm actually really curious now...when I'm at the office tomorrow I'll check how many times these guys have been sued, what type of lawsuits, where, and post the info to make it easier for others to do the same.

Finally decided to pull the trigger on a Rolex, thought I was getting the best cyber Monday deal. Paid $6500 on 12/2, received watch on 12/9 immediately noticed obvious differences one of which was scratch on the clasp. Reported the issue and was told that it was small and for what I paid I shouldn't make a big deal, this was my first taste of their customer service. In my frustration I took the watch to Ben Bridge jewelers and to Leo & Hamel here in San Diego. Both confirmed that the watch was a fake, not a Rolex, not real gold and not real diamonds. I immediately called TG and for two days could not get a hold of anyone except the people in the ordering depth. On 12/11 I sent the watch back via fedex insured for the full amount, paid $113.00 in fees. I've obviously sent numerous e-mails and have left messages. No one has acknowledged anything. I would like to know from the members what should my next step be. In the 3 days of dealing with this ordeal I've discovered so much information about this company that it amazes me that they are still in business. Hopefully I can get out of this as soon as possible but the way things are going I highly doubt it. I'm kicking myself for not doing my due diligence... was going to be my first Rolex... should have gone with my first choice which was to purchase a simple SS DD but new or now that I know about this forum one from the RTF members.

Time and Gems are thieves -- stay away!

I bought a watch online from Time and Gems for $3,474.00. It was a used Rolex, guaranteed to be authentic, fully restored, and to "meet or exceed manufacturers specifications," and with a two-year warranty. The watch was said to be water resistant to 300 meters, though I never did more than shower in it. Within 9 months, the watch started running very fast. I contacted Time and Gems and they said "No problem -- it's under warranty" so I sent it to them. A few weeks later they contacted me and said the watch was completely rusted, and they would need $250 to fix it. This didn't seem right to me as the watch was water resistant to 300 meters (and I have never been diving in my life), and I'd only had it for 9 months, plus it was protected under warranty. I told them I wasn't going to pay to fix it and that they should either fix it and send it back to me, keep it and refund me, or send it back to me unfixed but I would post negative reviews about their site. That was last October. Now, several phone calls and emails later, they haven't returned my watch or my money and it's been almost four months, and I'm out $3,450!
