1978 Airking "Pan AM"
Bought this for my wife as a present for our upcoming daughters birth...
1978 Rolex AirKing with Pan Am dial. Caseback is enscribed to an employee for a "safety award" in 1980. My wife is a Pilot for American Eagle flying ERJ145's so this pieces history really connects with her. I have all the links out and the clasp as small as possible and its still too big, any ideas on how to make it even smaller?

First things first....big congrats.Thats a beautiful example, and a real piece of history.Take that unit to a competent watchmaker, or better yet an AD with a watchmaker, and get them to remove some permanent links.

So who did the wonderful restoration job hehe Rik You should have let me know I would have removed some of the links. Because they're not soldered links basically pry them apart just enough to clear the pin then squeeze them back together. Rik

Interesting custom dial. I have never seen one like it before.
I hate to burst any bubbles, but it seems as though you are thinking that this is a Pan Am dial as in Pan American World Airways. It is not. At a first and very casual glance there is some resemblance to the the airline's logo. As a child of Pan Am, their logo is more than familiar to me. Don't know whose logo that is, but I am sure someone will recognize it. Mark |

Great looking Air-King! No matter about the logo, I'm sure your wife will be quite happy with it! If she isn't, PM me and I'll tell you where to send it!!
