Not yet... but it is the shortest produced Rolex (production years).

It may be someday.

Well, maybe not. The 16750 GMT was made for around five years. The 16800 and 168000 Submariners were made for five years and one year respectively. The green Sub has been around for eight years.

I think any of the models with a green feature as a recognition of a Rolex milestone are collectible.

I think 40 years from now there might be a mad dash for the green bezels and rehaut clean vs. rehaut engraved Subs from the early '00 years. In 40 years, it will be less about the maxi dial and super case and more about the holographic view as seen in the windshield and behind the sunglasses. LOL.

You can add the COSC 14060M to that list - if they stop producing it!

I think it will have it's collectors, but what are the uncommon rolexes right now.

It's not that common th see a DSSD in the wild.

I would think a regular 16750 would be more collectable if the ceramic doesn't work out.

That is the second most asked question!... besides which one will you choose to buy between the the 16610 or the 16610LV Subs?

And let's be honest... just the fact that SO MUCH ATTENTION has been bestowed to this Rolex... IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!, to make it your Submariner selection... and yes, the 16610LV HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND ALWAYS BE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE 16610 SUB!

I thought the 168000 had the shortest run, somewhere between 6 - 12 months. However it does not seem to be especially prized by collectors. Based on my own amateur observations, that is...

I would doubt if any modern day Rolex would become as collectible as most of the vintage past Rolex. But today there seems to be a different type of Rolex collector thats more based on Internet hype. With all the hype with like the famous stick dials and the many hypes about Rolex watches being discontinued etc.But who knows what the future might bring but as a investment/collectible the modern day Rolex would be far down my list.

Is that what the green means?

Yes! That's what it means, and I"m not stating that, but ask any AD (that knows what they are doing) and they will confirm this.

Remember that everything inside a modern Rolex box, warranty, manuals, etc come in green and derivatives of green.

Rolex Corporate color is GREEN

The only thing I like about the LV is the MAXI dial.....simply beautiful.

If I ever purchase 1, I will surely change the bezel to the classic black bezel. That would be a perfect combination....that's just me.

X2, thanks Paddy .

I would never buy a any modern day Rolex and think they were a future collectors item, if you do, you fell for the internet hype. They were a mass produced, production line watch, and produced for almost a decade. There are hundreds of thousands of them floating around the world and still in AD's cases, completly different than true collectors pieces.

These are my SUBs. Picture taken from my new SLR

The LV shot seems overexposed. This is my first try though...

Collectible and worth many multiples of the original retail price are two very different things.

I am not buying one anytime soon, but I appreciate the transitional elements.

Silly me, I would wear the watch! ;-)

YES

I think it has everything to become a collectors item.

It is original in every way

The 50th anniversary submariner
First Maxi dots and hands on a sub
Rare compared with the black 16610

AND ONLY a few years in production

The new ceramic sub is a totally different watch. Not only the bigger case but it also has that green dial.

The sub 16610LV will be a collectors item

It won't make you rich, it's ofcourse NOT the next COMEX

Now the difference between an black 16610 and a green 16610LV is not very much , about 20%
I really think the Green sub 16610 wil cost at least 50% more than the black in 3 years from now
A guess, a Black 16610 from 2005 in 2013 something like 3700 till 4000 euro
a green 16610 from 2005 in 2013 more between 5600 and 6200 euro

I hope this would not be the reason to buy one. I bought it because I love it and I'm not planning to selling it. Look how I got it

Far too many of them have been produced for them to become a bona fide collectors item like a Red 1680, for example. I think they'll hold a niche interest, and they'll hold value, just don't expect to get tens of thousands for one in the future.

and what do you think about the first edition ? MARK I
Only a few thousand of these and you can see the difference, the flat four and the green bezel is not so dark

I have a green sub but not a MARK I
