I would seriously doubt if any modern Rolex would be classed as collectible now or in future.Yes the LV was just around 7 years but must be quite a few around, and watches like the GMT 16700 only around for a very short time much shorter than the LV but not classed as really collectible.

I'd agree with that. Many of today's collectibles
were poor sellers when they were released, or had
short runs for some reason.

There's more chance of the white or black milgauss to be collectible if Rolex repeats the previous model retirement after a relatively short time.

They would be the "sleeper" models.

Collect what turns you on. If it appreciates, good on you!

If you buy "meh" watches and hope for upside, thats a waste IMO.

Everyone has valid points, I know this was not an option but I would say the Turn-O-Graph was seriously underappreciated by folks that hoard Rolex pieces. My thoughts are the TOG will gain collectable Milgauss 6541 status someday...

I'm with Paul on this one, Black or White dial Milgauss has the most potential to be a collector's item, simply because they don't sell. Far too many of the ones suggested in the poll about

That's pretty easy, actually. The watch that will be a collector's item is the one

that nobody thought of, and pretty much nobody bought. The obvious and unavoidable conclusion is, if it appears on your list, or in this thread, it ain't the one! If people notice it and speculate about it, that automatically takes it out of contention.

LV for the relatively short production run.

Also include the Tudor Tiger

Gotta agree with Padi. It's hard to imagine any current model becoming a collectible in the future.

Have to agree with the naysayers. The only sapphire references I would hedge my bet on are: 16800, , 16660, 16550 cream, and 16520.

This last reference is the Daytona I voted for.

What about the 36mm Explorer.

It's never exactly been the flagship of the Rolex line, but it does have a following.

What about 35-40 years from now?

No chance?
