Sea Dweller dive extension

Stupid question maybe, but my Sea Dweller arrived today (pics to follow, but need to do some cleaning and a wee bit of polishing to tidy her up).

How does the dive extension come out? With the strap taken apart ready for cleaning I had to use a blunt tool to prise it open, with the strap assembled it feels impossible to get it out. Its a huge improvement on the old type which was always flapping around, but it seems I need to use an excessive amount of force to open it.

Look at the inside of the bracelet links, there should be one with a little circle stamped on it, press in on that circle and the link will pop out; then pull it the rest of the way.

No little circle. Bracelet and clasp are reference 93160A. Watch is a P serial

I nabbed this pic off the net -

Sounds likes something is wrong. Assuming it's the same/similar mechanism on my 91350 bracelet, then it should come out quite easily (mine comes out too easily, actually).

Oftentimes the link with the 'o' is not present because it was inadvertently removed when sizing the bracelet. To unfasten the diving extension, try applying or 'pushing" your 5th link on the 6 o'clock side while the link is secured. It's kind of hard to explain in writing. lol.

The circle is on the inside of the link that sits right next to that special link with a "latch". so in the picture you're showing, it would be on the other side.

It's possible the the link was changed to one without marking. just push in on the last link that is at the end of the clasp (opposite the clasp lock) against the back side of the clasp it should release the extension for you.

That explains things. Its impossible to undo it whilst its installed in the strap. Do you happen to know if there is a part number on yours? The links are sitting flush against the dive extension, there is no play in it at all.

even without the O, you can still push on it. go to the junction between the links or just walk your finger and you should find a place that gives and when you push in, the latch releases.

post a picture of the inside of your bracelet that is hidden inside the clasp and it may help better.

I couldn't agree more. Sold both my 14060's last month and used to have a 16610. This is so much more watch. I am a very happy camper, especially as I got it for a great price too, I paid less than I sold my 14060 for that I bought in 1995!

Nope, that bit is missing. Is there a bobble on the other side of it to give leverage to move the next link when you press down on it?

If you push on the junction between the second and third link on yours, it should pop the extension out. the shape and configuration of that link is exactly the same as others but just having the O makes it easier for people to remember where to push.

Check the seadweller toolkit in the accessories for sale section from TRF, the kit contains that O link.

ask an AD... they may sell you one? or just scribe an X into the appropriate link... there is nothing special about the link with the O in it, it just indicates the spot to place pressure.
