End Link Question for the TRF Experts
Hoping one of the TRF experts can weigh in on this question.
Will 555 endlinks work for a 62510 jubilee bracelet on both a GMT Master 16760 and / or 16710? I know they work on a 16710 and my understanding is that the 16760 does not "require" 502 endlinks. If I am not mistaken the 502 end-links will "only" work on a through-lug-holes case. Whereas, the 555 links have slots in the back and will work on all cases. Do I have this correct? Thanks in advance for the help |

555Bs are for 36 mm cases with non drilled through lug holes 502s are for 40mm sapphire crystal cases with drilled through lug holes 502Ts for ditto with non-drilled through cases You need 502s for a perfect fit. Also, you need a 62510 marked "50" on the last link closest to the case to take the thicker 2mm pins for the GMT models. As a side note: The earlier 16750 took 550 end links... the 502T works well with the later style 16610, 16570 too. I have them. 555s may fit your GMTs, but they were made for Datejusts. Best, A |

Thanks Anders - great info & appreciate the response.
I guess one question I have is what are the lug width differences between the 36mm cases and the 40mm cases? The 555B end links I have fit the exact lug width of my 62510 jubilee (see the pics). I never really noticed a fit difference on the watch. |

They both have 20 mm lug width, but there is a difference in radius of the cases and shape of the lugs, so they take different end links. But, since the end links are made out of steel sheets it is possible to reshape them to a certain degree (bend the 555s to better fit the GMT). Also, 555B end links will only take 1.8 mm lug pins, that have 0.9 mm pivots that goes into the case, whilst the standard 2mm lug pins have 1.2 mm pivots, so if you fit 555Bs to your GMT the lug pins will not sit tightly. Edit: The 1.8 mm lug pins with 0.9 mm pivots will fit nicely on the later style 16710 with non drilled through lug holes. Those models have smaller lug pin holes, so the diameter of the pin itself is not as important. Best, A Last edited by acce1999; 5 December 2011 at 06:20 AM.. Reason: Adding a few comments |
