which model holds the highest value?advice please..

Hi everyone, need your advice here, please share your opinion. Currently I owned a Daytona wht face, fat hand and in the past I owned several other model. I am shopping for another model but my main concern is which rolex model holds the most value besides the s/s daytona? what about t/t daytona or the one with leather strap? perhaps the new GMT II? Yachtmaster?
Please advice, Thanks!!

Hi and welcome to TRF.

Steel models will hold much better value than the TT ones.

IMHO, the Sub-date 16610 is still the most popular and sought after Rolex after the SS Daytona....so I guess, that one and the LV would hold resale value best.

I would agree, given the criteria, the SS Daytonas, 16610LV, and of course vintage pieces have the best retention, appreciation in value. It will be interesting to see where the new Milgauss fall into the mix....if at all.

Welcome to TRF!

Any SS sport's Rolex has a pretty good resale value.

The Milgauss will probably be the one who has the best resale value besides the SS Cos.

The Milgauss costs nearly 6 K in MSRP, but currently there is one for sale on www.swissluxury for over 9 K!

Yep, I agree the 16610 as well as all early Sub models.

They are such an iconic model.

thanks everyone. I am tempted to get t/t y.m or daytona with leather strap. But if I'm spending that kind of money I better make sure it has good resale value.

I think that prices on the Milgauss (other than green tint, assuming it doesn't become as common as the Kermit) will be going down after they've been out a while - just like the GMT II c and the Sub LV.

While I realy want a green tint Milgauss to put back, the other ones are just kind of ugly and plain...

Retail wise I think The SS Sub date holds it's value near best.

Learning cap on:

I'm surprised that the Stainless models hold value/appreciate better than two tone stainless/gold. Can anyone explain why?

The LV holds it's value quite well. As to which is more desirable, I guess the question is in what way? The GMT replaces a reference and as such is the only new GMT offering. (I know there are new 16710s sitting in AD showcases--for now).
The LV is in addition to the 16610 and as such has to "share" the market. Far fewer LVs are made than black 16610s.

I think the real question is always which appeals to you and if it rises in value at some point that's a bonus.

demand is high and supply low for SS date Subs / daytonas - i guess those who don't want to sit on a waiting list go to the 2nd hand market which keeps resale value high.

YG/TT watches have a balanced low supply / low demand.

This is only my guess.

Not that I have the kind of knowledge that JJ and others here have, but my opinion is that (in Sweden anyway) all 40mm SS Oyster professional-models hold their value very well!

I would even say that every sport's Rolex watches that simply NEVER reaches the AD window display are the ones that hold the highest re-sale value since those ones are the most sought-after.
