Five Year Warranty

This should clear it up. 10 year service interval. Extra year if purchased after 7/1/2013.

Thanks for this. Too bad there's no extra service warranty, just a magically "grown" service interval.

Thanks for posting! Glad to see this apply to us in the US too. It also answers the question that some had on what would happen to the red tags. Also interesting to note the implication that Rolex must know exactly how many watches, and therefore how many red tags and 2-yr booklets, an AD has at any time. Presumably, they will send an AD exactly that many green tags and 5-yr booklets.

Surprised there isn't more chatter about the 10 year service interval.

Rolex says that the "typical" service interval is ten years, not that recommended service interval.

Thanks for sharing. This is indeed excellent news.

However, if a real slow selling, unpopular piece has been sat in the AD for, say, three years and gets purchased tomorrow it's going to have a five year warranty. On the other hand, if something that doesn't even have a chance to be unpacked, a real popular model, left Geneva on 1st June and lands in the AD on 5th June and was sold immediately, it has a two year warranty with a plus one extension.

Something about that really bothers me.

Thank's for the information!

so automatically it is now from 5 to 10 year service interval maintenance schedules, dang, so a lot of people were right when they said "I will have it serviced when it breakes .."

Cheers !

Not only that, but the old piece doesn't need service for 10 years while the piece built and sold this month is due for service in 5.

I suppose there are going to be some flaws in any program, and not everyone will be happy. Heck, if they said all watches sold in the last five years are covered under the new policy, anyone with a 5 year, 1 month old watch is upset. So I guess exceptions aside, at the end of the day it's good news.

Thanks for the information....

At least we know for a fact that those red tags & the 2 years booklets won't flood the ebay market......

Yes I find this interesting...10 years sounds good. Trying to outdo the omega 8500 7 yr recommended service? I'll prob still send mine at 7 years cause I'm the guy who changes my oil at 2900 miles. I like keeping my nice things, well, nice.... $500 is a drop in the bucket to keep it, well, nice...

Thanks. Unfortunately, I just bought from an AD 2 weeks ago. I called them today, and they said I only get the 3 yr warranty. Oh well.

Five Year Warranty

So what's the difference between a sales warranty and a service warranty...?

I believe one follows a sale; the other follows a service

I always think 10 year is reasonable for modern Rolex: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=418672

Watchmakers naturally prefer shorter service intervals for business reasons.
