You can't make this $#!% up

This story is too comical not to tell.

I bought a 5711 white from a Patek AD in April to celebrate my engagement.

I open it (shipped from out of state thus lack of pre purchase inspection) to immediately find the dreaded misaligned 12 has marks.

Sigh ....

I consult with the highlander and ultimately decide in going to send it back to the AD. The AD takes care of it and sends it to HSWA on my behalf and has the watch back on my wrist in 3 weeks! Hooray!

I literally started laughing after just catching this now, like some game you play at a dive bar for a dollar. Anyone spot the mistake on my 2nd dial?

Come on Patek! Are you just (expletive) with me?!

I don't want a refund because this watch has sentimental value. I'm lost for words haha

I will say I don't hate them yet, in fact I still love Patek Can they hurry up and hire Bas so they can get their sh!t together??

Missing minute mark at 9min. Sorry to hear of the troubles--frustrating to say the least. Beautiful watch though

Oh that is horrible. It looks that the mark was glued on. Their PP SEAL reads:The applied numerals and/or markers are made of gold and mechanically secured to guarantee maximum longevity. The hands are crafted from gold. Other hand materials are allowed only if special technical or aesthetic considerations so require.

So I supposed they were mechanically secured. Disappointing.

I could be mistaken but I believe they are referring to hour markers only. These appear printed/painted or whatever.

No need to be sorry unless your name is Thierry, in which case I'll borrow that 5711P or 5575 until I get mine back thanks

I hope to own a Patek some time in the future, but there seem to be so many issues from dates sticking to stuff like this and ridiculously long service times.

I feel like people who buy watches in this price range from a company as prestigious as PP need to be taken better care of. These kinds of mistakes don't seem acceptable. Not for a company making less than 50,000 mechanical watches a year.

I understand the Internet makes these issues seem bigger than they are, but to get a watch back because of a QC issue and then have a different QC issue is insane.

It's stories like these that make me seriously consider adding another PP. I sent two 5167's back due to issues that weren't acceptable before finding one that worked.

It will be even more weird if that was printed. The mark peeled off or was wiped out? I am supposing they didn't replace the dial, and just re-aligned the hour marks.

I would send it straight back, have the first issue fixed properly and the second issue addressed.

It is very sad how awful Patek quality control has become. It is clearly not the same company it used to be and if they don't get their act together they are going to lose a lot more loyal clients. There are many great options at the upper level without QC issues. This is just unacceptable.

How does that even pass quality control? It's missing a minute marker... on a 25k watch..

That's unfortunate. You seem to be taking it pretty well though, so thumbs up to you. Disappointing to hear these types of QC issues.

That is way worse a fault than the cyclops magnification issue Rolexes have been having.
If that was mine I would return it SO fast and request a refund and buy a Rolex instead!
Only one with the correct magnification though..

A question from a simpleton who doesn't own a PP.

Do some of you feel that PP don't allocate the "hoped for / promised" tlc and care to their less priced watches?.. ie the Nautilus and Aquanaut.

Or do these types of small mishaps happen on calatravas and higher ends like the 5205 and such..

Just curious
