Broken bezel
Okay so I am still in shock about this but I just got this bluesy with the ceramic bezel about a week ago and I've been extremely careful with not knocking it into things or anything like that. I went to the winder tonight to put it on and discovered a crack at the 12 mark on the ceramic bezel. I took it out of the winder and it literally fell off in my hand. I don't know how this could happen without noticing. I'm extra careful and not careless whatsoever. I'm very confused, I didn't think ceramic was supposed to break like this. Has anyone else ever had this happen?

I don't know how in the hell that would have happened. Is this something that is normally covered under warranty?

As there is a crack no they wouldn't cover it. If there was no crack they probably would. does anyone else have access to your watch? You would notice if you made that crack, either a drop or a VERY hard bang

Looks like the pip fell off or got snagged and that caused the crack?

That's really too bad. I thought the supporting piece between the ceramic insert and the rotating bezel would have prevented this.
It appears that the luminous dot at 12:00 o'clock is the culprit. I have other examples of ceramic bezels breaking over at https://www.minus4plus6.com/ouch.php I am extremely bummed as well as I thought ceramic bezels would be able to stand up to standard knocks, but the stress risers introduced in the 12:00 o'clock dot is another vulnerability. -Sheldon

No, no one other than my fiancé but she doesn't mess with the winder whatsoever. I definitely didn't drop it. Nor did I bang it against anything. That would have been very memorable. I haven't even slightly graded it against anything. |

So sorry this happened. It is very unusual for the ceramic to break as it's quite durable, yet I remember another person posting a breakage comment not so long ago. Perhaps the odd bezel has a manufacturing flaw where the ceramic is more brittle than normal causing it to break more easily. I'd hope it would be covered by warranty unless RSC can find a point of impact to point to as the caused for the damage.

How did you not immediately notice that out of the box if the pip at the 12o'clock hour is completely gone?

Rolex will not cover that under warranty however they may give you a nice dicount on a new bezel. Try the service center in Beverly Hills. You can also try some of the shops in the jewelry district who do custom diamond bezels. Maybe they have a ceramic bezel laying around.

Thank you. I really hope so too. There is definitely not an impact point whatsoever. This is so crazy. |

I did when I took it out of the winder because the bezel wasn't sitting correctly. I'm more surprised I didn't notice it when I put it in the winder on Sunday. |

This is the weakness of ceramic bezels.
And unfortunately, Rolexs' unshakable belief in their own infallibility means they will likely see it as a user caused fault and not a manufacturing defect of their own making. Although I hope I'm wrong and they replace it under warranty. Keep us updated. |

Wow that is incredibly frustrating. I hope they cover it but suspect they wont.

I remember awhile back someone had a issue where I think the bezel popped out. It wasn't hit or banged into anything but just fell out and the bezel was damaged when it hit the ground. The NYC RSC gave him a hard time and wouldn't cover it. Pretty sure it was a Subc.
If it has to go and I assume it will go to an RSC, try Dallas. I think they're better to work with on issues like this. Good Luck OP Edit: I see you're in LA. Try Beverly Hills.

Damn, right smack in the middle of the "ring arrow". Couple things come to mind:
- Where is the lume pip? - Winders are evil - Long live aluminum bezel inserts Good luck man! |

Yikes
I've beaten the ever living hell out of mine since March and haven't managed to do this yet. I smacked mine really good a couple of days ago about 25 meters deep face first against a hull a week ago and I don't have a scratch on mine.

X2. You beat me to it Adam That's exactly what I was thinking. OP should do a comparison to make sure it wasn't there before and just went unnoticed.
