New Tudor Chrono

Hi all

Today I picked up a Tudor Chrono 79280P with côtes de genève dial. I cannot tell you how happy I am with it. The dial is amazing. When you tilt the watch up or down it has a 3-D effect, like one of those advertising billboards that rotate to reveal a different ad. The detailing is unbelievable for a watch in this price range.

Along with the vertical stripes there is a very fine (almost) herringbone effect. If you look at the cyclops on the second pic, you can just see the detail magnified.

The numbers are raised, so again when tilted they look 3-D. Compared to my old black dialed 79280P, there is no comparison. This is the better, more detailed dial.

The strap is a brand new Tudor leather deployant (please correct me if I'm wrong. I always get deployant & deployment confused). The strap is too small for my wrist & those nice people at Rolex are supplying a brand new 77500 bracelet to me next week.

Bread & butter Valjoux 7750 movement. Here are some quick & dirty pics- sorry for the quality.

Man what a great watch! Great value for money!!

Thanks for looking

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Got it by trawling various sites & keeping my eyes open. Pure luck in the end I suppose.

I cannot explain why but I like these Tudors much better than Daytonas. Except I could do without the "Tiger" sign.

Thanks for all the kind words. I don't know if the dial can be found without "Tiger" on it. Maybe one of the Tudor experts can help us out. I've added a comparison here with the detail on this dial to my old ROO. Granted the AP had a much greater depth of detail, but the Tudor is 1/12th of the price & I think looks great. Look through the Tudor cyclops & you'll see the herringbone detail.

WOO HOO, Tony!!! Congrats. I love that dial. The Tudor leather strap w/ deployant clasp AND end pieces really make that special. The new bracelet will be a nice addition to an already great watch.

Well done.

I'm not sure if that is one of my old watches or not, but either way, and I'm sure you will agree with me. The look of the dial cannot be seen on photographs, it has to be viewed in the flesh. This is simply the most stunning of dial and why Rolex did not make one for their own watches is a mystery.

Enjoy it in great health, Rolexroz
