Today, I received one of my 'grail' pieces.......

A vintage 1978 "Big Red" Daytona with black dial and white subdials (which have over 30 years turned light cream color).

Overall, the watch is 90-95% condition with only a few scuffs on one lug. The dial and hands are 95%. The movement looks new.

The watch was serviced and polished once by Rolex Canada in 2006.

It arrived with the original box and service papers.

Thanks! It is 36 mm but 'looks' bigger IMO.

My better half wears 34 and 36 mm and I was going to give it to her if it was too small for me. But I am keeping this beauty. :thumbsup:

I think these watches do wear a lot larger than 36mm.

I was thinking the same thing. This is by far the best looking Daytona IMO...I love everything about it. If they re-released this color combo I would be an owner in a heartbeat (seeing as I can't swing purchasing the 'real deal' vintage variety). :thumbsup:
