Vintage Nato Bands

I have a friend who told me he wanted a 1970 Nato Band British UDT for his 5513. What is this? Could a NATO band of this age survive and be in reasonable shape? Woudn't you have to buy a new "vintage" band or a new copy?

I have a NATO strap that I wore on my daily use watch whilst in the Royal Navy in the late 80's/early 90's. It is pretty faded and beaten up but is just as servicable as the watch it is still attached to. These bands are practal bits of kit that usually took a beating when being worn and I suspect unless it is a new old stock band you would be lucky to find one that is still useable.

I would also note that the design of the NATO strap on my old service watch is identical in design to new NATO straps I have bought in the last year. It may be that the MOD spec for these straps in the 70's was different to current the current MOD spec but if it is I have not seen an example.

Thanks for the advice. Apparently, my friend is hell bent, at whatever cost, on finding an original perfect vintage NATO British issue strap.
