New to me 1675 circa 1968

Hello one and all,

I recently acquired a 1968 (2.4m serial) GMT 1675 from a dealer that I have dealt with in the past and heís always been reliable but had a question about the watch.
So from reading the various posts and other site it would seem the 1560 Cal was replaced with a 1570 cal around 1965 but the movement in mine has 1560 engraved on the bridge. Is it normal to see this? My movement isnít a hacking one either which is inline with that they say online.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

Interesting, it should be a 1560 with that serial...

Oh! So it should be a 1560 in a 1968 GMT 1675?

Those bridges got swapped all the time. Is it actually a 1570 or 1560? Measure the beat rate.

Yes
1560: 18000 bph
1570: 19800 bph

Thanks everyone for the info.

I just measured the beat rate and it is 18000.

Would this mean the movement was swapped out?

I have seen 1560 movements in 1968 1675 models before. They were suppose to have been discontinued a couple years before that, but as Rolex goes, it is what it is. I wouldn't let it bother me.

Good to know. The watch is great for the most part just a few things out of place like an older gilt dial era insert and a really crappy re lume job at some point.

Thanks for all the info
