That is a shame. I've never been asked to remove my Rolex while going through airport security. Was she told to take it off?

Do not remove your watch for the TSA morons.

Woah! :banghead:

I’m curious as to how that would happen if it was in her bag.

This made me smile. Nice to see we have a common humor with our northern neighbor.

I have a place in my bag for it before I get in line just to avoid the argument. With the inconsistency between airports, I pick my battles.

Very positive contribution to the thread!

RobotDoctor 25 April 2020 11:25 AM

I travel for a living and every once in a while TSA asks to look at the watch. This is pure bunk because if my watch flagged something it would be checked every time. As it is I get the occasional TSA curiosity check maybe 1 out if 25-30 screenings. The TSA agent is personally checking out the watch. I have TSA Pre check in (went through security screening and paid the fee). I never take my GMT off ..... never. I just extend my wrist because the agent is going to have a look whether I do or say anything. Almost every time no chemical swab test is performed. How obvious is the "examination" the TSA agent checking out the Rolex. My concern would be whether the inspection is just the first step of something more nefarious.

So yes, the post about not taking off the watch does contribute.

Well, you wouldn't have to worry about seeing another TSA checkpoint for a while.

Outside of America it is quite normal to remove your watch for security. I always put mine in a pocket of a jacket or bag. Scratching watches plays definite second fiddle to security.

Sorry to see the damage on your watch I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve had to take off my watch whilst going through security at airports,I would certainly be disappointed if it happened to mine.

Oh man...
I can't imagine the force required to do this when it was in a bag?
I throw my watch in my little little travel case, basically a toiletries bag that has my wallet and things in it that I need and on to the tray... Can't imagine this ever happening under normal circumstances.
Sorry to see this damage...

iliketime 26 April 2020 12:17 AM

ouch, last time i passed thru tsa, the watch just stayed on

Bozack90 26 April 2020 01:41 AM

I had them ask me to take my sub off once in heathrow, I told them I was not thrilled but what can you do, handed it over to the person they looked at the back and then handed it back to me...only time other than going into a federal courthouse I had to remove it.
