Seeing as how you're in your 30s, one would think you are mature enough to make these kind of decisions on your own. You can own more than one watch

Do you buy a car with the thought that in 20 years I may not need a minivan or I won't need a 6 seat SUV.

I don't mean to be rude but, really. If a Sub is too sporty in 25 years time (although I have no idea what that means) you can sell it and get a old man watch. Or a watch with a massive date or whatever.

These things are luxury items and we may all be dead in 5 years.

Live your life. Buy what you are attracted to.
