I really like the Luminor Submersible a lot - but I'll tell you why I'd never spend $6500 on one. The movement, while not being crap, costs $100. Sure, the Valijoux 7750 is cool and all, but then they go and remove the chronograph function and then throw their logo on it and call it a day. Rolex, with their in-house designed and manufactured movements wins every time.

Despite the case finishing and the overall "quality" of a Panerai, I still know the movement (in question) is basically the same as in, say, a $250 Invicta diver...not so with Rolex or any other company that takes the time, effort, R&D and investment in making their own movements.

Luckily Panerai is making strides in this area and hopefully they will have real, in-house movements across the entire range. Then maybe I can pick up a Submersible...
