I was tracking and agreeing on all until you said "as Sub seems impossible." That is 100% the wrong reason to get the DJ. As your fellow Brits will tell you, you CAN get s Sub in the UK. Its possible. Let's see what your countrymen have to say about the best strategy. But it seems like you will get the most sympathetic ear from AD's near you, especially if you aren't in a big tourist/population centre.
However, even if you have to go grey, get the Sub, if that's what you want. Otherwise you will get the DJ and then still want the Sub, so you are out even more money.
