I do agree that a watch is dressier on leather though. I wouldn't do a bracelet (if I were actually cared).
I would much rather wear this cheap Citizen with a suit than a Submariner, or even a date just on a bracelet. That's my opinion. Many think the Date Just is a dress watch, but it isn't. I know some don't care and that's fine. Wear whatever makes you feel good.
