A well-intentioned man tried to carry him to a point where he could put the loon in a box or cage and transport him to the local Humane Society.

BIG MISTAKE

The loon cut this guy's hands and wrists up with that big, nasty beak. The police were called, the Humane Society came, and said, in effect, 'leave the loon alone, he'll fly when he's rested, he's just fine'. The man, of course, went to the hospital for treatment.

Hence the term.......Lunatic!!
