Could the removal of the hacking mechanism have made the movement thinner hence enabling a thinner case? Or is this difference a result of removing the glass back?

Just checked my 1320 which has a clear back and it's definitely thicker then my 1662. I must say though my 661 with the same backing as my 1662(non see through ) wear the same . So the glass back to me makes it thicker
