This is just a guess on my part because I have never asked anyone at the company about it. One thing I admire about the Panerai's is that they are quite legible--their dials make it easy to read the time and I understand they have outstanding lume too. Good question.

Haakon, I've gotta disagree with you on one point. I've got a TT DJ on a leather band and I think it makes a great looking dress watch.
