It's not madness, it's quite simple. Buy something that is available. Or don't, your call.
If the only thing(s) you are interested in buying are in high demand, then the store is (in the nicest possible terms) probably not looking for your business. So take it somewhere else. There are lots of great watch brands, and plenty of other ways to spend it
