The bracelets are awesome, but straps are what these watches are historically based on.

Here are a few of the outside movements that Panerai uses/has used.
Frédérique Piguet chrono
Zenith El Primero
Zenith Elite 680
JLC calibre.
"high beat" Zenith El Primero
GP Alarm

along with the many based on the Valjoux and Unitas/ETA movements.
