Regarding your crown/Stem problem, i think, just the crown (the crown winding for connecting the stem) might be the problem.
Usually they are easily to get in ebay or chrono24.

Are you sure this was not on the 6494?
6294 with a 740?
These early watches shared the same size through a series of models (34mm). The later models had an approximate 27mm dial and I wonder if that would be the same as the OPs..
