Tech expert advice needed.

Dear fellow TRF members,

I recently purchased a vintage sub with a cal. 3035 that hasn't been serviced in a long while (possibly since '91). I brought it to RSC NY to get an estimate and they quoted me 550 for movement service and 150 for a new crown and crown tube as they mentioned that there was some damage there (with no specific detail).

I plan on getting it serviced in a few months once i get some extra cash, but am wondering if in the meantime I should refrain from setting the date (either via position 2 or a position 3, 24hr hands wind).

The watch runs ok--maybe about 1-2 minutes slow per month. But my concern is that the potential lack of lubricant may mean that a 24 hr hand wind would do some damage...?

Advice from tech savvy folks is especially appreciated here.

Thanks all!
