Totally understand your thought process, OP. Sounds like you and I have similar collecting ideas. I've purchased a couple bronze pieces: Shinola Bronze Monster and Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze.
I highly recommend the Oris. It's such a great piece. Affordable, patinas well, and is versatile on strap or full bracelet. Added pics from day of purchase, then what it looked like after about 3 months of wearing it almost daily.
