How about Oris?
Seems like no one talks much about Oris. I own lots of expensive watches, but wandering around the AD one day I spotted this Big Crown Pointer Date. I don't think that for around 2K you can get a watch with any more history and quality than from this independent brand! Pictured is the Roberto Clemente limited edition tribute watch.
