Financial peace of mind IMO outweighs something you can reasonably buy anytime. A Sub Date while desirable is not a rare or a hard to find piece even at retail with a wait. Perhaps wait until you feel comfortable with your personal finances, we've all been there.
In terms of how liquid the piece is, you could probably sell close to retail, perhaps a 10% hit if you need to turn it into cash right away.
