Metal does stretch. It has an elastic limit. Below this limit it will return to its original dimension. Above this limit it enters the plastic stage, where deformation is permanent.
Screws with threads work on the elastic principle.
I'm not saying this happens with bracelets. Just that you can't say metal isn't elastic.
