I like Clairefontaine for it's consistancy but I really do not like writing on bright white paper as I find it tiring after a while.

Of course all of this is irrelevant if one writes with ball point!
I purchase Moleskine's by the dozen. I haven't noticed any variation in the quality of paper they use, but will certainly keep my eye on it now.
