Dial Changing

Hey Yogi,
Changing a dial is fairly easy. If i were you, I would buy a couple of old cheap watches just to practice on. And you'll need the right tools too.
01) Need to remove the case back.
02) Unscrew the crown, pull it out to it's last position. Then you will need to '
depress a small crown lock on the back of the movement near the crown.
try and find a picture where this is. Then depress the crown lock with a small
sharp object. The crown will then pull out of the watch, all the way.
03) Then remove the case clamps on the movement, (2 screws, and 2 clamps)
04) The movement will then come out of the case.. (if I were you, I would also
remove the self winding rotor, so you can set the movement down without
it moving around.
05) You'll then need to remove the hands. Use a good hand removal tool, and
a dial protector to keep from marring or scratching the dial. Set the time
to 6:00, then remove the hands. (practice on old watch)..
06) Then you're ready to remove dial. There are 2 feet on the back of the
dial. Just look at dials for sale on ebay.. same watch as yours of course.
then you'll know where the feet are located. There is a dial foot clamp that swivels out from the side of the movement where the dial feet are. Like
I said, if you practice on an old cheap watch, you'll have it down. '
07) Pull the feet clamps out, and remove dial. It may take a little screw driver to pry a little, but should be easy.
08) R&R dial, be sure to set dial feet clamps tight with new dial. Then you'll
need to replace hands (6:05 maybe).. ? then the date will change correctly.
09) Then reverse the steps until you get the case back on.

If you just go slow and easy, and be very careful with the hands.. it should go well. If you drop a hand however, you may not see it again ? These parts can take off from your tweezers in a heart beat... GONE.. so be careful.

Good luck... theres a lot of stuck up rolex knuckleheads around here.. and I think they either talk to themselves, or sometimes each other ?.. I can never get an answer from anyone ... But I don't take pictures of myself and my rolex taking my dog for a walk either... ? Oh well... Have fun changing your dial... Doubleo
