As stated above for 99 cents (not even $1) Atomic Web Browser is great alternative on the iPad.
Also have you tried reseting the iPad. This often helps after an upgrade.
Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.
