The problem you are having is the first intermediate setting wheel needs to have a little grease on it so It can mesh with the calendar quick set gear. So when you pull the stem out rotate it a bit till it meshes then it will go into time setting mode easier. Hope that helps Rikki

Thanks for the input, it has just had a full service should the grease have been applied at service ? or is it just one of those things.
