Regarding the AMEX isn't taken anywhere comments. That used to be a major problem, but I've honestly only had my AMEX turned away maybe twice in the past year. Those were also usually small mom and pop places like donut shops who don't sell anything over $5. Even every place in Mexico took it when I was down there a few months ago.
