Thomas, I had enquiry my AD about this issue. The manager told me that it is not necessarily the case to send in your watch to a service centre for water resistant check once it is updated in AP datebase (you will now obtain the 3rd year warranty), as some places don't have a service centre in the country, just like mine (the estimated turnover time range from 8-12weeks). However, not sure if it is 100% correct. Hope it helps.
