I don't know about the Submariner but, on my GMT-Master I just pop mine off with my fingers, pop the bezel insert out, and then snap a new insert into the bezel. I then place the bezel ring retaining spring back into the bezel and snap the whole thing back onto the watch. I've had my watch for 32 years and have done this on and off for about the last 15 and have never had a problem.
