You can tell the difference on ones that people have tried at home. Either they do not get it folded back and closed evenly like the other links or there are tell tale signs of bent metal where they might have opened it up to far and then tried to bend it back only to cause a ripple (dbl bend) in the link back. It does not take much to kink the metal fold. As others have mentioned, no on sending it to Michael. I am sure he is capable and the link would look like new. Just to far and since you are in NY you are bound to find a watchmaker that can help you in house. Good luck on what ever you do decide to do.
