You're too kind Steve Anyway, I think I've nailed the problem(s) down... Spam Assassin (filters all email for all the domains on the server for spam) has been going nuts. It has been reinstalled and so far, it is behaving much better now. Another issue was the server backups were taking anywhere from 7 hours to 23 hours to complete! This process should take no more than 2 hours a day! I'm thinking (and hoping) that the long backups were caused by Spam Assassin overusing the CPU time of the box. FWIW the backup starts at 1am PST and should normally be done by 3am PST. Even when the backup runs users should not even notice, but combine the backup with a run away CPU intensive application can cause some slowdowns etc. Anyway, will be watching closely over the next few days.

If you can, please say if things seem better, worse or the same as this would help me out. For me it seems much better.
