As some have said in the coming years Panerai will more than likely release more 1940 cased Panerai in the same vein as the 587. I would imagine though that there would be ever so subtle differences to keep the 587 individual. Difference text, maybe Radiomir Panerai, different font, different text colour, sapphire instead of plexy. Lots of available permutations!

I have noticed a difference, other than the dial, hands, crown and case side, between the 587 and 372. The 372 has angled lug ends that seem to follow the contour of the case where as the 587 looks to have virtually straight lug ends almost reminiscent of a new case Submariner





Still hoping to get the call to go and collect a 587 but for now this is just fine
